Writing Assistance, Inc. is a national staffing company for Technical Writers. We have a client seeking a Technical Writer for a full-time, on-site opportunity near Naperville, IL.
We are looking for a Technical Writer with the ability to produce high-quality, coherent technical documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products and applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Researches, outlines, writes, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
Independently gathers information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
Works with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.
Researchs, creates, and maintains information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration.
Develops content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.
Develops a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required by meeting with colleagues and working with managers to discuss technical problems.
Researches and builds knowledge about products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented.
Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension and writes and edits technical information accordingly.
Prepares or commissions graphics and illustrations to elaborate on or complement technical writing.
Meets with subject matter experts in order to ensure that specialized topics are appropriately addressed and discussed.
Collaborates with translators as necessary to convert writing into a variety of languages.
Works with sales and marketing colleagues to ensure that the finished documentation meets product requirements.
Creates, adapts, and follows project schedules and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Proficient in publishing software and programs such as Microsoft word, Confluence, help makers, wiki, Microsoft Visio.
A Technical Writer should also possess these skills:
Excellent written skills in English
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development
